Premium biopolymer viscosifier for solids suspension, hole cleaning and stable drilling fluid rheology. Formerly HPM XCD.
MF-XCD is a premium pure biopolymer supplied as a white to cream-colored free-flowing powder. It is designed to provide strong solids suspension, viscosity control and efficient hole cleaning in drilling applications.
MF-XCD is suitable for oil & gas drilling, HDD, water well drilling, mining and other drilling operations where stable rheology and reliable cuttings transport are required.
MF-XCD is primarily used as a viscosity modifier. It provides pseudoplastic rheological properties, helping fluids maintain lower effective viscosity at high shear rates around the bit for better ROP, while providing higher effective viscosity at low shear rates in the annulus to support cuttings transport.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Appearance | White to cream-colored powder |
| pH range | 2–11 |
| Thermal stability | Up to 121°C |
Note: the original HPM data lists “clear to blue liquid / pH 6.5–8.5 / gravity 1.1”, but this looks inconsistent with XCD being a powder. I would not use that part unless confirmed.
Add MF-XCD slowly through the mud hopper over 20–25 minutes per sack.
Typical dosage: 0.5–1.5 ppb / 1.4–4.3 kg/m³ to develop viscosity.
For higher temperature resistance, an oxygen scavenger is recommended.
